Let me start with something pleasant. Two issues of our journal have already been posted on the national platform of periodical scientific publications RCNI. Today we are finishing the layout of the third issue, which will be posted in open access both on the RCNI platform and in the national information and analytical system RINTS, and will also be presented to your attention on our website http://elphotkai.ru. And now to the content of the issue, which, as always, is quite diverse and interesting.

I would like to start with large forms. Due to the rapid global growth of new scientific information in many scientific fields, reviews are becoming a popular type of publication that serves as an integrator of modern knowledge. Reviews contain a critical analysis of the literature in the subject area for a certain period, depending on the life cycle of scientific information (usually from 5 to 10 years, in high-tech areas - from 3 years). This type of publication aims to identify trends and gaps in research in a scientific field, and, with appropriate goal setting, to substantiate the boundaries of the subject field. In addition, reviews are the most highly cited type of scientific publication, as they are often used by scientists as a bibliographic basis for their own research. (further read the EDITOR'S COLUMN)
